Cornide House

The Cornide House, located in the Old City and close to the Santa Maria City Collegiate, is one of the buildings where Galician Baroque features are reflected. This is a pink granite building built in the first third of the eighteenth century. Its facade is protected by different slabs and topped by a pediment stone labrum where the coat of arms of the family is located. It also highlights its flown balcony. This palace was the birthplace and residence of one of the most important illustrated Galician Cornide José Saavedra (1734-1803). The intellectual, who was part of the Royal Academy of History in 1753, geography and economy primarily.
